Visionary leaders create hope and possibility. They appeal to people’s dreams and goals. They define a preferred future. The better a leader is at casting a compelling vision, the more influence they wield.
Leaders, our job is to lead people into God’s great adventure … and it will require risk and sacrifice.
Being the leader doesn’t mean being the only voice. It means knowing how to curate the voices that will bring the right ideas to help your team effectively carry out the mission. Be the curator!
In leading through various seasons of change, here are five steps I encourage you to consider in whatever change you’re facing.
If your team really hasn’t embraced an idea as their own, they aren’t prepared to put in the long hours and sacrifice it takes. You have to slow down to bring them with you, and perhaps let them shape the vision too.
When those we are leading argue and complain, we try to please them, argue back or explain ourselves. But is that what Jesus did?
I deeply believe that the culture of your organization matters. The environment you create in your organization is either attracting or repelling. And as leaders, we set the tone for the culture.
